FAQs

I make no apologies for my blog.  If you feel Joeprah is bringing you down—stay away. If, however, you enjoy my stuff—stick around—because there is more on its way, and the sun has just begun to rise on our time together.

Joeprah

Who is Joeprah?  I am a stay at home dad and I have three super funny, bright and beautiful littlMy Three Daughterse girls.  My daughters are separated by a little over two years each and they are currently 9, 7, & 4.  Being a stay at home dad has allowed me to see them grow up and observe all the important firsts in their lives.  I started out not really knowing much at all about little girls, mostly because I grew up in a male dominated household (at least by numbers).  Now, going on over 9 years as the primary caregiver, I have become a battle-tested parent.  I cut, braid and even on occasion utilize a flat iron to do my girls' hair.  I do the laundry, dishes and make dinners plus I do the traditional chores associated as "guys work."

I couldn't do any of the things I have menti oned without the help of my awesome wife.  She works in the male-dominated industry of software engineering and through her hard work continually brings in more and more for our family, making each year a little easier.  She is my hero, my best friend and the love of my life all wrapped up into one.

Finally, the website you see before you wasn't even my idea and if it wasn't for the support of a very close SAHM friend of mine I may have never started writing in this type of forum.  I do have a degree in English writing and I enjoy writing in all its forms, but at this site I enjoy editorializing, usually in a light-hearted manner, what is most important to me--my family.  I have had one of my articles mentioned in Newsweek and one in LA Times (as well as some other smaller local publications).  Along with Joeprah.com, I now blog for The Examiner and Dad-Blog.com.  Along with a close friend of mine, Pete Janelle, I launched Dad Blogs in January of 2009 to serve as a hub for dad bloggers--an answer to all the mom cafe's and bloghers of the world, just for dads.

Finally, I recently wrote a book. The book is called Daddy, where's your vagina? What I learned as a stay-at-home dad. The book seeks to provide a road map for stay-at-home dads and moms as well as entertain the heck out of anyone who picks up a copy. Feel free to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Joerpah exists becuase his parents loved each other and decided what the heck.  Joeprah became a stay at home dad out of necessity and became Joeprah because no one else stepped up.  Joeprah fights for injustice perpetrated on dads and especially stay at home dads.  Joeprah also has an amazing sense of style and panache...LOL, jk, Joeprah has neither of those but rather a witty sense of humor and dashing good looks.  Word.
Joeprah is in Maryland.  He lives in a small town northeast of Baltimore called Havre de Grace.  Joeprah lives in a house.  Joeprah sleeps in a bed in said house and sometimes drives to and fro in a boss mini-van.
Joeprah is a young lad in his early thirties.  He lives in a time where the workplace is becoming more dynamic and because of this it may come to pass that a father will be home with the children instead of the mother.  That is exactly what took place in Joeprah's household--thus he is a stay at home dad (SAHD).  Respect.
