Beyoncé's Kid Clothes | Print |  E-mail
Written by Joeprah

Beyonce's Kid's ClothesIf you haven't seen any articles already regarding the new fall line of kid's clothes from Beyoncé don't worry because you will be overly informed after my article.  Apparently Beyoncé, of singing and acting fame, has released a new line of children's clothes, The Deréon Girls Collection by House of Deréon, directed at giving little girls an opportunity to wear some of today's highest fashion designs (laughable) at a very young age.  Can anyone say "bad idea?"  Well, I don't think that we should make snap judgements about something unless we get more details.  That's when I read the article by Joshua McIntire over at my second home--The Examiner, and got learned.  I found out what the new line of clothes is all about after checking out some very disturbing images of little girls (ages 3-6 I am guessing) dressed up in, what only can be described as, a miniature version of Beyoncé's wardrobe.  I have 3 daughters and not only do I find these images and the clothing line to be frightening but also morally reprehensible.  As I have already talked about in previous posts, I do not enjoy it when corporations pigeon hole segments of the populations and most of all my kids.  Look at the girls in the ad for the clothing line, do they even look happy?  Do they look comfortable?  The hair, the shoes, the tight clothes all make me want to barf.  What was Beyoncé thinking?  She may be a fabulous singer and a talented actress (I really have no clue) but as far as children's clothes go--horrific.  Swing and a miss Beyoncé.  What do you think about these clothes?

I just found you blog and I'm lovin' it so far. As far as this post goes, if I tried to put one of those outfits on my three year old she would probably spit in my face and run off screaming in horror. I can't speak for other parents, but I would never dress my kids in clothes like that. The outfit on the right looks torturous if you ask me. To each his own I suppose, but it is so wrong on so many levels. I want my kids to look like kids and be able to move around and act like kids. They don't need to dress like mini-mannequins in some unrealistic "fashionable" outfit. Just my opnion. Thanks for letting me vent.

Kiddies dressed as hoochies? No thanks. My mom let my little sister wear a skanky two piece bikini at six, and now, at 17, she's an even bigger hoochie than anybody else I know. Little girls are not meant to wear eye catching clothes. Like, really, it's just disgusting, imo.

When they pay for their own clothes, they can have more leeway, but I'd never buy my own kids clothes that make them look like mini-skanks. No thanks.

So I was thinking about this this morning and decided to see what the clothing line looked like. Jeans, bermuda shorts, white pants with a pink ruffle and matching shirt like you would find a Carters, lots of tee shirts, and hoodies. The biggest difference is there is some gold embroidery on the pants cuffs and front pockets. www.dereon.com. Nothing out of the ordinary at all. It's less revealing than Limited, Too or Justice. I think the ad got people talking, but it's just marketing. For those who bargain hunt, there is a big sale in the baby section. :p

I have girls aged 3 and 7. No way would I let them dress like that. No way would they want to. If and when Beyonce has kids she might get it...
And is that little girl in the main picture wearing enormous heels or is that my eye sight? If she is that is just soooo disturbing.

Man once again I'm with you on this one. These little girls are 4 they should not be wearing beyonce attire. Not to mention they might fall down the stairs wearing their high heels like beyonce did earlier this year.

Alright - the pink boa and heels might be a little much, but my daughter would totally love the pant suit on the Asian girl...Yes, she is still a little girl, she just has a huge sense of flair. Besides, here in the OC, kids rock that crap. smilies/cool.gif

That is like all sorts of Nasty. Not only are the clothes UGLY, they are horribly .....ummmmm wrong.
Obviously she has no idea what she is doing. Children not only shouldn't be dressed like that. Few would really want to. Not very play friendly.

It is probably good for Beyonce that I have all boys. Geez...can't we at least let girls get to middle school before they dress slutty?

Parents have to take a stand against this garbage. Even the clothes at WalMart & KMart look like they're made for tiny trollops. If you want your daughter to like like she's trolling for a 'John', simply dress them in these designer duds (and I DO mean 'duds'). Checking the local stores for gifts for granddaughters, everything looks like they are wearing nightgowns with sequins and spangles, or off-the-shoulder evening clothes for a go-go dancer.
Too many parents think this is cute or fun. And there's a whole 'nother group out there who are living vicariously through their daughters.(Can you say Janae Ramsey?) Yesterday, 250lb-PLUS mom buying her little one a slinky outfit. At the same time, a 100lb. mom with massive tattoos, who looked like she had needle tracks, was buying a bikini for her tweenie. And this was at WalMart, for Heaven's Sake!

:upset What is she thinking? Does she even think? I would guess by her line that there is no kid (s) in her care.
It is in my own humble opinion, the only good clothes for a girl or boy, is something that can be used & worn at the playground in comfort. I do not forsee anytime soon, Beyonc toddler togs arming it under the monkey bars by the little princesses.

Yea, Perez is calling this the Diarrhea Collection, hehe. Um, I would pretty much laugh my butt off at any child wearing this. Even on Halloween. Yes, point and laugh and laugh some more. Hopefully the parents would get the hint eventually. I'm bad like that though. Plus, if you look closely, all those little girls are wearing makeup. Wrong on so many levels.

Disgusting. Deplorable. Unconscionable. She's offering a line of clothing for wh**es-in-training, that's all.
What problem do people like this have with little kids dressing like little kids? Shouldn't they be allowed to have youth and innocence?
This is a fast track to societal doom.

I have never been fond of what passed for girls clothes. Is this why I'm yearning for the 80's preppy look to come back in fashion? Except for the leg warmers, no need to intensionally make your legs look like a Clydesdale's.

From here, this is quite simple.

Don't freakin buy them, no kid is gonna burn the house down if they don't get them.

Don't buy them, the range will bomb, and the next chancer won't be as quick to launch a similar range.

Too simplistic? probably.

I am there with you man! I can't even begin to say how much I detest these clothes. As a Dad of two little girls...they should be wearing little girl clothes, ya know...tigger...pooh...kind of stuff. I am really just speechless after looking at those adds. Thanks for bringing this to our attention Joeprah!

smilies/cool.gif I would not let my 11yo daughter where anything like that, let alone have allowed it when she was younger still. This is objectifying our youth and is VERY wrong. We need to protect our baby girls from being exploited and any parent who thinks this is an appropriate choice for their child's clothing should be slapped.
I believe in Modesty as a Mother.
