I am a competitor and I love to win, ask anyone.  I was challenged by a blogging peer of mine, Mr. Lady , to a "braiding competition" to formally be named the "Braid Off," and like any individual fueled by Coke Classic at midnight I accepted her challenge.   After about a half dozen solid burps reality set in, what did I just agree to?  Apparently, she is a champion braider where as I am just a lowly recruit in boot camp learning my way around brushes (some may call them horse brushes) the size of my children's heads, headbands, pony tails and yes--the occasional braid.  So, sit back, enjoy my post modern production that shows off my braiding skills (or lack there of) and after you are done, head over to Mr. Lady's site (we posted simoultaneously--kinda cool) and watch her movie.  This is a battle for the ages.  Battle of the sexes.  Man vs. Woman, Dad vs. Mom, Rookie vs. Veteran, Moron vs. Genius...well you get the point. Vote for who you think deseves to win by leaving a comment.  Peace out.

You did beat me for time, but I think I had you on distractions. And as for being a DAD? I am pretty sure I have a fuller mustache than you. I'm going to say the jury's out....

You totally crushed her!

Well done!

You are not hot though, don't listen to her. You are very average.

You did an awesome job, and fast is definitely a plus, especially when dealing with little ones. I never braid my girls' hair, so I'm impressed with you both!

Mr. Lady owned this. Not gonna lie...

Sorry dude, she owned you. I mean, I'm totally impressed with your style, but you did a regular braid on an older kid. The French braid on a toddler wins hands down. That's just damn near impossible.

However, you DO win for biggest brush.

Pwned.

Regardless, your awesomeness remains intact. And I do like your braids.

But you did get a serious spanking.

Sorry Joe, she won...and I wasn't even distracted by all the boob shots. She took you on degree of difficulty.

At least your kids don't have a ton of crap in their hair. You have that going for you...which is nice. :grin

HUGE PROPS for just stepping into the ring with a battle-tested vet. For that you are a winner in my book. Not THE winner, but A winner all the same. Ok ok, so the boob shots swayed me...

NIce, that was a wonderful braid. I couldn't have done better. I wish I had time to make this kind of home movies but with my move happening I don't have a lot of free time.

I have to say Mr. Lady has it hands down. I totally cracked up as her toddlers wiping lotion in her hair and she's braiding the candy right with it.

BUt i have to hand it to ya. Not many men can fix their daughters hair!! I'm impressed! :grin

lol you did great...but I have to vote for Mr. Lady (french braid on a toddler). I'm still impressed though, nonetheless.

Props to Lady, but you got my vote for all around good entertainment. The no look braiding was impressive, along with the one handed grab & heft.

Do I really have to vote?
Can't I vote for both of you?
Both videos were highly entertaining.
You both did well for different reasons.

Okay, I'm voting for both of you.
I have always had trouble making decisions...

Hmmmmm. This is like comparing apples and oranges. Degree of difficulty on Mr. Lady's braid is MUCH higher due to type of braid (french), embedded food, and added lotion. Her music is also WAY BETTER than yours, which tips the scale to Mr. Lady!!!! The crowd ROARS! Props to you for having adorable, very clean-appearing children :)

OK, while I am totally and madly in love with my Mr Lady, and she did totally own you on the technical difficulty. Just the fact that you are a guy, who even CARES about braids makes it a tie (get it, hair tie, yeah shuddup I have the flu) in my book.

Now I wanna see someone braid my bunnies tail. Now THAT would impress me...

Speed is key here----Otherwise you end up with a head full of lavender body lotion. I'm gonna have to go with the dad here. Good job. But she does have nicer breasts!

You totally won!! You're a DAD!!!!! I have yet to meet a Mom who couldn't braid hair, but a Dad? I meet them all the time. Heck, I live with one! My husband tried to braid our daughter's hair when she was 6. Even she knew it was awful, but she wore it with pride because he tried. LOL!! Great job with the ponytail AND the braid! :)

Sorry Dude! Mr. Lady toally schooled you on this Braid-Off. Your time was better BUT she did french braids (much more compliated) and she did 2 with fruit snacks in the hair and everything! And I should know I am Mexican and that makes me a braid expert. Use brown peeps are all about the braids. I will give you props, my husband (who is also H-O-T) will not attempt a braid.

I vote Joeps. While the french braid in theory has a higher level of technical difficulty, the Joeps braid was better executed. The pony tail was neatly pulled back, the braid was tidy. Mr Lady neglected the part, and this judge is quite anal about the part. When I braid my own hair in two braids, my part is straighter than a... I can't think of anything that's really straight right now.

But, I can't be all nice to Mr Joeps. You seriously need to get smaller elastics. I think the elasticking took longer than the actual braid. :D

Yey! Both were awesome efforts though. *high five*

Well, pathetically, I am going to avoid voting. Mr. Lady did an awesome braid. But your braid was pretty good, too. My husband would completely suck at braiding. That in and of itself impresses me. And that's all I have to say about that. (Yes, I'm a wimp.)
