I have had literally at least five people ask me questions like, "What video editing software do you use?" or "What type of camcorder do you use?" I thought it would be helpful if I came up with a list of the tools I use to make my blog. My blogging platform: First, I would like to say that my blogging platform is not the typical, run-of-the-mill, Word Press or Blogger platform. I use the content management system called "Joomla" flawlessly (only crashing my blog 6 times) and although it has proven to be quirky it is extremely customizable. It is also a great for entering metadata and SEO (search engine optimization). In addition to utilizing Joomla I also use a template for my blog from "YooTheme" this template has proven invaluable as I retooled my blog after my latest crash. YooTheme has slick templates that are enhanced with javascript and ready to go out of the box (see good for novices like me). My Hosting Provider: I use GoDaddy.com for my hosting services. Here is what I would like to say about GoDaddy, they are cheap. Besides that I would like to refer to the "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it rule." My Photo Editing Software:
My Camera:
My Movie Editing Software:
My Camcorder:
So, there you have it. These are the keys to Joeprah's kingdom. What tools do you utilize to make your blog? What do you think about them? Joeprah out.

Yo Joe,
Thanks for the movie software tip. I also now use Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0 in addition to WMM. Now I am climbing the steep Adobe curve to figure out the software. Manuals? What manuals, I don't need no stinking manual! Ohhh, a PDF, well maybe then... 1

I use a plethora of tools. I am a fan of WordPress, but it is customized with about 30 plugins enabling a lot of interaction. Cameras include Canon XTi, Sony F838, and Sony W90 for point-and-shoot (and quick/ambush video). Vidcam is Sony camcorder. Software includes handcoding (yeah, I'm geeky that way), Photoshop, Virtual Photographer, Phase I, Muvee Producer, and Office 2007 (for its blogging features).
I just want to say that I love your theme/layout. Even though it is through Joomla. ![]() 2

Cool gear! I have almost the same FujiFilm camera, but think mine is the 5.5 or something like that. It takes really good pictures! I gotta get something other than WMM for my vids. I just can't do what I want to do with them, ya know! Maybe I'll try Adobe Premier. Later!

It's nice to know what other people use. I keep wanting to change and every time I come close to biting the bullet----you crash your site. I love what Joomla seems to offer but you have scared me to death.

Wow, those are cool tools. You know what I use? My hands. Haha. BTW Joe, how do I add your blog to my google reader? I added once, now it doesn't show any updates.
You've been tagged for this meme: http://love4kids.blogspot.com/...of-me.html 9

I like the creativity you used in deciding to use Joomla! instead of the more conventional methods.
Personally, I don't care for Joomla!... but I'm a professional website designer (which means I don't care for anything much more beyond opening up notepad and hacking away at the keyboard). But, I do use wordpress for my blog and I guess the same could be said for it. (I'm such a hypocrite). Anyways... the list of what I use? Wordpress, Midphase (for hosting - I get 2 terabytes of bandwidth), I'm getting the Flip Ultra for video, Adobe Premier Pro, Photoshop, and Paint Shop Pro. 11

I aspire to have photoshop, but I currently use photoshop elements 2.0. Photoshop elements 2.0 has a lot of the basic capabilities that photoshop has and although it lacks some of the bells and whistles of its big brother it is handy enough to get the job done for just about all the crazy and stupid ideas I get for editing my photos (see sophmoric hijinx).
My camera, to be fair, is great for the price and what it offers. I, however, am horrible at using it and throw away many, many, many (many) more photos than I keep simply because they are absolutely pathetic. The camera I use is the Fuji FinePix E510. I won't bore you with the stats of said camera, you can Google them now if you choose to, but the main point is that the camera is 'good' and that I am 'horrid.'
I use two different types of software for editing my movies. The first is the very basic "Windows Movie Maker" that comes with Windows and is free to download for those with Windows. WMM is basic because it doesn't have all the functionality of other more robust software packages, however it does have some key functionality that the "big boys" forgot to incorporate. My main movie editing software is Adobe Premeire Elements 4.0. This software is more difficult to use than WMM but once you learn how to use it, it can prove to be much more powerful. The videos that you capture are cleaner and the videos you export once you are finished editing are better quality. WMM has the capability of high quality editing, but for some reason WMM takes like 100 times longer to export these files to my computer rendering it worthless for high quality movie editing.
My camcorder is a JVC GR-D250 Mini DV Camcorder. It has 25x optical zoom, thus it is dated, but good enough to do the job. I love my camcorder and it loves me. Period.
